Lacie Electron 22blueIII monitor, 23" (diag) CRT monitor with it's anti-glare hood and cables. 2 switchable inputs & internal USB hub.

This was my main work monitor until it went pop - I had it repaired by a local one-man band who said he had it working and on test for a couple of hours, when I got it back it worked for about 10 minutes before going pop again! I suspect it's some simple component on the power management side of things which needs replacing.

If anyone wants to have a play and see if they can make it work, you can have it FOC as long as you collect within the next week or so - otherwise I'm going to tip it.

i think a fine adjuster is required , have you checked the giggle pin

[slaps head] - the giggle pin! Of course! I had checked all the returner flanges, the arc spiggot and the clasp-whelk (hell I even checked the doohickey) but never thought of the giggle pin. Man I feel stupid now...
But you are right - if no-one wants it then the 8lb fine adjuster may well be required.

Actually that reminds me of a time at Photomedia when we had a problem with one of our print processors. Because they used some reasonably corrosive chemicals and generated some heat in a damp environment, it was common to find things corroded to each other. One of the motors on this particular machine was cattled and needed replacing, but the drive shaft (fnar) pin was corroded and stuck so Graham was belting it with a club hammer (via a pin punch) to get it out.

At the time we had an ancient American client who came in for film processing, who (despite being as deaf as the proverbial) heard the smashing sounds emanating from the lab and looked through the view panel in the doors at Grahams efforts. He turned around and said "what's going on" to which someone replied "Grahams just performing a millimeter re-alignment with a fine adjusting tool" - and in a classic 'Americans just don't get irony the same way we do' he replied "huh - if thats fine adjustment then I'd hate to see what would happen if something was stuck" and walked off. Berk.
