Well, I went. I treated this event with the professionalism and dedication I always show when reffing any major tournament. That is, I got well drunk the night before and turned up barely concious, but very, very late.....

After several cups of coffee and having the small demon in my head exorcised, i felt able to join in the festivities and was very kindly offered a game with Bats team, formerly the berks but now under the new guise of Maidenhead Trauma.

Firstly, Trauma are a great bunch of lads. They play fair, but mostly just do it for fun. There is no whining or whinging, no tantrums or inter-team arguments and i'm reliably informed by the team captain that team training is undertaken in the pub using a strictly theretical method. In short, my kind of team.

I managed to get my rusty old eblade to work and for the first time in nearly two years took to the field with a gun in my hand. To be honest, I was a little nervous. What if I got shot straight away? I was never brilliant but Trauma were under the impression I was going to a bonus to the team, not an old fat bloke that falls over a lot before getting pasted by some 12 year old holding his precious "gat" like it was some form of sex toy.

Surpisingly, the game went well for me. Four out of seven of the eliminations had my name on them, Trauma had a max, everyone was happy. I had proved the old style of sup air could still teach the new breed a thing or two. Despite the first physical exertion of my body in ages, i felt good.

Thanks for game Trauma.
