My answer - yes, this is necessary.  This is the only forum to address a topic that is over 3000 years in the making involving a completely different culture and when it comes down to it involves beating the shit out of eachother.  Marvelous!

Well, just to wind Russ up, I'd thought i'd mention the widely held belief that (in the western world) Kung fu is crap......

Oh yeh, and the films are of very sub-standard cinematography as well.
