The first step is getting the file to admit it wants to change.

I don't know as a matter of principle (it's the 'W' in WMA which gives the game away) but you could try this software: http://www.audio-converter.com/ which would seem to fit the bill and you can try for free apparently.
Is it not possible to open the mp3 in Windows Media Player and export it as a WMA? (or am I just being silly and applying the OS working practices which I am used to without consideration of the difficult circumstances which you find yourself in) -------------------- "We are number one, all others are number two or lower!" - The Sphinx, Mystery Men

James is right, the easiest way is to export it in to Windows Media Prayer.
Dunno why you would want WMA anyway? Try using iTunes from Apple. Its free and it good. This post has been edited by womble: Jun 30 2004, 03:25 PM -------------------- Very funny, now tell me the one that doesnt suck.

Ok. Does anyone know how to convert Apple AAC (M4a) files to MP3? There's no option to do it in iTunes. My new phone can use MP3s as ringtones and I'm buggered if I'm paying three quid a go for music I already own.

Sorted it! In iTunes go to Edit, select Preferences and then change your selection in the 'Import Using' box to your preferred file type and Voila! And there was me tearing out my hair with Nero. Thank you Apple, for showing me the way!

Mike - check out this hint: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?sto...343408#comments - it's on an OS X specific site but I suspect the parts about trimming in iTunes will still be relevant.
